Our items are priced using a combination of factors including the weight of the item, the amount of craftsmanship involved in the manufacture of each particular item and the current silver price.  

Postage, Packaging & Delivery

Jewellery Lady is happy to post items anywhere in the South Africa, and will often deliver items by hand in Cape Town and the surrounding areas.  Or, if you're close to us in Durbanville, please contact us to discuss a convenient collection time!

International delivery will be calculated per individual order. Please e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Payment

We are happy to accept payments via PayPal™, Credit or Debit Card.   If you're not familiar with PayPal, here’s how it works: PayPal can be used to send and receive payments online, completely free of charge. Once you sign up for PayPal, you can send money to anyone with an email address. You can use money from your PayPal balance or from another payment method of your choice, such as a credit card, debit card or your bank account. Recipients are then notified by email that they have received a payment from you.

For Credit or Debit Card payments, proceed to the PayPal Homepage and follow instructions for card payments.

Returns Policy

The vast majority of our clients are very satisfied with the quality of both our service and our products, so we trust you will be too.

We make every possible effort to display items as well as possible, with as much detail as possible, in our online catalogue. Please note though that measurements are approximate and actual items may differ slightly from those shown as most of our items are handmade.  If it does happen that you are not entirely satisfied with your product, we offer an unconditional 7 day money back guarantee on all items apart from earrings (these have to be excluded for hygiene reasons). Simply notify us via e-mail or phone within 7 working days of receipt to enable us to offer you a replacement item or a refund.  Please note that postage charges on your original order will be non-refundable.

Goods returned after 7 days but within 1 year of purchase will be credited only if they have a manufacturing fault.  

When returning an item to us, please use the same Royal Mail Signed For™ 1st Class service. Please retain your proof of postage and be sure to include your name and address details with the item you’re returning.

If any item you receive is faulty or damaged, please notify us via e-mail or phone within 3 working days of receipt to enable us to offer you a replacement item or a refund. You will not be charged postage costs for any replacement items but the charge for returning the item to us will be yours. If you fail to advise us within 3 working days of receipt, we are unable to accept responsibility for items said to be faulty.

While we guarantee our products against manufacturing faults, we cannot guarantee them against misuse. Please remove jewellery before showering, swimming, doing dishes or manual work and always use gloves when doing domestic work. This will maintain the condition of your jewellery for longer.

925 Hallmark of Purity

Each piece of jewellery sold by Jewellery Lady (apart from some smaller items like stud earrings) carries the 925 hallmark of purity, or some selected items even carry a 950 stamp. These internationally recognised markings for Sterling silver means that each item is made up of no less than 92.5% pure silver, therefore containing at least 925 parts of silver in every 1000 parts of metal content.

The combination of silver with another metal is called an alloy, and the remaining percentage of the alloy is most often made up of copper, which is added to strengthen the metal as silver is too soft to be used on its own.

We guarantee that all items, including those too small to carry the 925 hallmark, are Sterling silver. Many of our items also have a MEX or MEXICO stamp, a nice reminder of where the item originated from!  

Caring For Your Silver

While the addition of copper hardens the Sterling Silver alloy, it also causes it to tarnish (darken) when it comes into contact with air, other gases or other metals.  

  • Try to store individual jewellery items in protective bags or layers of soft tissue paper as far as possible to prevent them from scratching against other harder jewellery items.
  • Jewellery can be cleaned with a non-abrasive detergent (simple washing up liquid and warm water works very well) or by gently rubbing any marks with a standard soft eraser. While some people suggest using plain white toothpaste the experts say a big NO to this as it’s too abrasive and therefore scratches the metal.
  • A liquid silver polish like Goddard’s Long Term Silver Polish used together with a silver polishing cloth also restores lustre to your jewellery with minimal effort.
  • Items that don’t contain any stones or other materials like leather can be cleaned by soaking in a silver cleaning solution like Goddard’s Silver Dip. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions though, and do not use this to clean any items that contain stones or other materials.

The ring sizes mentioned on our site are numerical, while an alphabetical sizing guide is also widely used throughout the world. For help converting your ring size, see http://www.onlineconversion.com/ring_size.htm.  The USA sizes used by our Mexican manufacturers and the British sizes are on the top & bottom left of the conversion table.

We offer Gift Vouchers for sale for any amount. Please contact us by any of the methods stated on our “Contact Us” page, advising the recipient name and the address where you’d like the voucher sent to as well as the amount required.  

Gift Wrapping

We are happy to offer an optional gift wrapping service at no extra cost to you. If you would like your item to be gift wrapped and sent directly to the recipient, please include all details in the Special Instructions box on the check-out screen.  

Availability

While we aim to have all products available at all times, it may happen from time to time that certain items are not in stock. We will notify you as soon as possible if the item of your choice is unavailable.
